2010 proved to be the 3rd in succession of cooler vintages in Sonoma County, and again proved to be just about ideal for growing Pinot Noir grapes in this special place we call the Russian River Valley. The finished wines from these special years can really display a finesse, with a keen sense of place, and an wealth of those cherished red fruits , such as Strawberry, Raspberry and Red Currant; we find this wine captures all these, along with some hints of Pomegranate and perhaps a touch of ‘mintiness’.

We strive to capture what we find in the vineyard, and harvest our Pinot Noir grapes in the earlier stages of their ripeness, which results in a wine with a balance between each vintages individual  flavors of fruit and natural acidity; which is enhanced by a somewhat lower alcohol level.

Refreshing, mouth filling and intense are the three most heard descriptors we hear for our Sauvignon Blanc’s, and something we are proud to share with you.

There is a persistent minerality that somehow intertwines with the fruit as it journeys across the palate to an almost every reach of your mouth, with extraordinary pops of fruit flavor that entice the drinker to delve deeper.

2009 will be known for a long time as an exceptionally good year for growing grapes in Sonoma County. One of the regions finest appellations for growing Zinfandel is the heralded ‘Rockpile’ AVA in the northern realms of the Dry Creek Valley. The grapes grown for this wine came from several different blocks, which included 4 different clones taken from old vine block plantings of Zinfandel throughout Sonoma County. St. Peters Church clone is one of these clones, which has shown more than a few exceptional qualities grown in these sparse and rugged rock strewn soils that typify Rockpile.

2009 was again a much cooler growing season in Northern California than we are accustomed to. The result of which is a Pinot Noir wine showing a great deal of finesse showing off a real sense of terroir and an abundance of sweet Red Fruits, with Strawberry, Raspberry and Red Currant fighting for the lime light. These aromas and flavors are backed up by notes of spice, red licorice, cola and perhaps a touch of menthol.

The color of the wine is a deep red almost opaque. Your nose will experience black cherries, plums, dried cherries, charcoal, toast, dried herbs, minerals, all setting into a varietal correct smell. The palate has a broad entry followed by a full-middle based feeling on the tongue. This wine is balanced and has good structure. Lots of minerals, dustiness, dried fruits, pomegranate, roasted nuttiness, jolly ranchers, and sweet fruits add to a long tasty finish.

Through the process, the wine developed seductive aromas of peach, apricot, ginger and buttered toast.  The wine is high in residual sugar yet incredibly balanced with a rich, complex, honeyed character.
