From the historical town of Jera, in Tuscany, Italy, John Vicini brought with him a passion and love of wine that was passed from one generation to another for over 150 years. Now living and working with Cathy, his wife, and David, their son, they present to you exceptional wines from the gently rolling vineyard covered hills of the Sonoma County, the Russian River, and the Dry Creek Valley appellations all located in California. John and Cathy have grown and sold their own premium Russian River grapes since 1994. In 1999, they expanded their family’s business into developing and introducing their own label,Trecini, representing the three Vicinis: John, Cathy, and David. Trecini has grown to be an award winning wine company offering five exceptional varietals: Sauvignon Blanc, Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Merlot, Merlot Rosé, and Zinfandel.

John’s fondest memory is from the age of 6, walking with his grandfather through the plush fields of vines in Tuscany, Italy, and listening to stories about growing and nurturing grapes. He grew up watching the villagers make wine and listened to stories about who could make the finest wine. Every winemaker had their own secret method. John learned early that methodology was the secret to making a distinctive wine. He brought this secret with him to the United States when he came here at the age of 29. After 27 years as proprietor of one of the finest Italian restaurants in Santa Rosa, California, John retired and was finally able to start his own vineyard, beginning his dream of making his own wine with his wife Cathleen, and their son David.

When not helping families as a practicing MFT Counselor, Cathy manages the office, maintaining customer satisfaction, orders and shipping wine. She brings her experience as a previous owner and manager of a multi location retail gift and clothing company. Learning the wine business has been a learning challenge that kept Cathy attending the Culinary Institute’s Wine Emersion Programs. She loves to pour at various wine events, and enjoys talking to enthusiastic wine devotees.

David is our “go to” guy. He manages the marketing, sales team, and keeps us all on our toes. He has a MBA, CA RE Brokers License, and is a Sommelier. David coordinates tastings, winemaker dinners and employee workshops. Our winemaker dinners are fun, informative, and memorable due to his presentation and interaction. David can be found early in the morning working at the office, religiously at the gym, or at wine events pouring our Trecini wines with great knowledge and enthusiasm.
